Singapore Enterprise Center Facilitated Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association of Singapore’s Shanghai Visit

2023-11-16

The Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association of Singapore organized a delegation of member companies to visit Shanghai on November 16-17, aiming to gain insights into China's research on fuel cells and electrolyzers, the deployment of commercial hydrogen stations, and the development of hydrogen-powered vehicles. The visit also focused on exploring collaboration opportunities between Chinese and Singaporean enterprises.

On the morning of November 16, Singapore Enterprise Center arranged for the delegation to visit the Hydrogen Science Center at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Professor Dong Jie, Vice Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, delivered a welcoming speech. Yang Haiyan, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Hydrogen Science Center at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, provided an overview of the center's research focus, platform construction, hydrogen science and technology transformation platform, research achievements, and strategic development directions. Topics discussed included magnesium-based solid-state hydrogen storage technology, solid-state hydrogen stations, zero-carbon energy systems, hydrogen metallurgy, hydrogen release through hydrolysis, electrolysis of water for hydrogen production, efficient fuel cells, solid adsorption hydrogen storage materials, organic solid waste hydrogen production, gold hydrogen projects, and magnesium hydrogen fertilizer. The delegation engaged in discussions on the efficiency and cost issues related to magnesium-based solid-state hydrogen storage, gold hydrogen projects, natural gas cracking technology, and solid adsorption hydrogen storage materials. Yao Tianyu, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Hydrogen Science and Technology Research Association, attended the meeting and expressed the hope to organize a visit to Singapore early next year in collaboration with the Hydrogen Science Center, strengthening further cooperation and exchanges.

On November 17, facilitated by Singapore Enterprise Center, the Singapore Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association jointly hosted the annual special event of the "Empowering Collaboration with Hydrogen" in collaboration with the Shanghai Xinzhuang Industrial Zone. At the event, the Singapore Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association presented the association's goals, milestones, and overall situation. The Xinzhuang Industrial Zone introduced the location advantages, industrial foundation, services, innovation, and talent resources of the industrial zone. The two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding during the event, aiming to enhance cooperation and communication in the field of hydrogen and fuel cells. Subsequently, companies from both sides conducted thematic presentations and interactive exchanges.
