In an effort to assist Singapore's small and medium-sized accounting firms in establishing connections with the government, business associations, and enterprises in Shanghai and to explore collaborative opportunities, the Singapore Chartered Accountants Association and the Singapore Business Federation Center successfully organized a networking and engagement event in Shanghai on the afternoon of August 23. The event featured speeches from Ms. Pan Chulin, Director of the Cooperation and Institutional Affairs Division of the Singapore Chartered Accountants Association, and Mr. Huang Fei, Director of the Singapore Enterprise Center. The event received substantial support from the Shanghai Foreign Investment Promotion Center and the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District Management Committee.
Director Huang introduced the longstanding positive economic and trade relations between Singapore and Shanghai, highlighting their partnership as sister cities, mutually benefiting from development opportunities, and continually enhancing cooperative exchanges. Shanghai plays a pivotal role in the Chinese economy as a significant growth driver due to its economic scale and growth rate, contributing significantly to China's economic development. It has become the preferred destination for many Singaporean companies looking to invest in China. Conversely, numerous Shanghai-based enterprises have established regional headquarters in Singapore to invest in ASEAN and expand their regional operations. Leveraging the resources and connections of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the Singapore Enterprise Center aims to facilitate collaboration between businesses from both Singapore and Shanghai and jointly explore opportunities in third-party markets.
Mr. He Weichen, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Foreign Investment Promotion Center, shared insights on Shanghai's foreign investment absorption during the first half of 2023 and the "Measures to Enhance Attraction and Utilization of Foreign Investment in Shanghai." He also distributed the "2023 Shanghai Foreign Investment Guide" to the attendees. Researcher Chen Yichun from the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District Management Committee elaborated on the core functions, strategic positioning, and industry layout of the Hongqiao International Central Business District. Mr. Leong Junhao, Chief Operating Officer of In.Corp Global Pte Ltd, provided an overview of Singapore's business environment and regulatory requirements. Subsequently, participating enterprises conducted individual presentations and engaged in a networking afternoon tea session.
